We carry two different types of firewood, Cedar, and Almond *On occasion we carry Alligator Juniper. Please call for availability.
Cedar firewood is a very nice firewood which burns well with a pleasant smell. Cedar gives off a good, lasting heat and a wonderful aroma from the chimney. Cedar wood is considered more of a soft wood which makes it faster burning with a high flame, hotter than the flame of high density hardwoods. However, hardwoods give more heat per cord because they burn slowly and steadily, providing warmth for a longer period. Cedar has an estimated BTU of 22.8.
Almond firewood is an extremely dense hard wood that leaves a relatively small amount of ashes. It produces about 20% more heat per cord than Oak, making it an exceptional value. Almond is the hottest and longest lasting wood between cedar, almond and orange. Almond has an estimated BTU of 32.9.
